Juniors – Outdoor Art Explorer

Description

From murals on buildings to oil paintings of landscapes, art and the outdoors go hand in hand. Let nature be your inspiration as you explore, create and design different kinds of art.

1. Explore outdoor art: Create a sketch or sculpture of a new kind of wildlife that would be well suited to your local environment.
2. Make something! Salt dough impressions.
3. Find music in nature:  Sing outdoors or make a rain stick craft.
4. Be a nature photographer: Learn about horizon lines and rule of thirds to capture one of a kind artwork outdoors.
5. Design with nature:. Discover stunning murals and outdoor artwork from Gloucester, VA. Then head out in your community and observe outdoor art. Sketch a design of the kind of outdoor art you would love to see in your community.

Supplies Needed:

• Step 1 & 5:  paper or sketch pad and pencils/coloring supplies
• Step 2 salt dough: flour, salt, water, straw, cookie cutters or drinking glass, roller, parchment paper, cookie sheet, oven, string or ribbon and outdoor themed impression such as leaves, shells, nuts, sticks, ect.
• Step 3 rain stick: paper tube, masking tape, small nails, hammer, rice or beans
• Step 4:  camera or mobile device to take pictures

Live Zoom:  The live zoom for this course is a bonus feature to meet Girl Scouts around the world and participate in a fun photography lesson.  We will cover step 4 during the zoom.  All other steps are virtual and self-paced.   You will be given instant access to the full course at purchase.

Important Information:

• This course does require some exploring outside, participate with adult supervision.
• This course will take a few hours to cover all badge requirements.
• The badge is not included, please purchase from your local Girl Scout Council.
• All live zooms start on-time, you will need a quiet open space with a little room to move around.
